Budgeting means assigning a certain amount of money for a particular area in your life like food, clothing, transportation etc. Creating a budget will help you control your finances and you will know where you are spending more than required; curtail the extra expenses and reach your financial goals faster and quicker.

You need to budget your money otherwise you will be spending everything you earn and some more! Budgeting your money means taking control of your financial destiny.

Once you work out a budget for your money, it is important to stick to it no matter what happens. You will have enough money to invest and this in turn would help you reach your financial goals and financial independence.

In order to budget your money, you first need to know how much you are earning and where you are spending the earned money. Make a list of all things you spend your money on. Make sure you categorize things under different headings. You should end up with categories like Food and Drink, Clothing, Housing, Eating Out, Luxuries, Investing, Charity etc.

Once you have this list in front of you, you will see that you actually spend more money on eating out, food and drink, clothing and luxuries than anything else. Investing is an important part of budgeting. You should ensure that you invest at least 10 percent of your income before you start spending it.

When you budget your money, you are helping yourself secure greater financial freedom. A budget will help keep on the right track and it is a way of finding out that you are heading in the right direction.
